Have a drink-on me.(cable television vendors)

"Cable operators drive me nuts," complained my good friend E. Quipment Vendor, when we met at the bar after a particularly exasperating day. "What do you mean?," I asked naively, while sipping my beer.

"Well," he sighed. "I mean, on one hand they constantly encourage more vendors to develop products for them, but they still buy most of their gear from a handful of large companies. I'm beginning to wonder if I'll ever have a chance to really sell them anything. All they do is use me as price leverage against their existing suppliers. So why should I spend any money on R&D at all?"
