NSW: Federal police complain about Channel Nine allegations

Australian Federal Police have lodged a formal complaint about a Channel Nine programthat made false claims about a federal informant's involvement in people smuggling.

The AFP has lodged the complaint with the Australian Broadcasting Authority (ABA) overstories aired on February 17 and 24 in which Sunday alleged Australian citizen KEVIN JOHNENNISS was involved in people smuggling.

Sunday alleged that Mr ENNISS was conducting his people smuggling activities whilehe was also a paid informant for the AFP.

The AFP says it has investigated the allegations and found no evidence to support them.

It says the Sunday program misinterpreted the activities of Mr ENNISS while he wasacting out his cover story.

Comment is being sought from Channel Nine.
