NSW: Meatworker convicted of manslaughter

A man who shot his teenage girlfriend between the eyes as she lay in a hospital bed
has been found guilty of her manslaughter.

A New South Wales Supreme Court jury took three hours to find 22-year-old PAULL FRANCIS
MCLAUGHLIN, of Goulburn, not guilty of murder but guilty of manslaughter.

The father of 16-year-old ADELE SMITH, MCLAUGHLIN'S victim, says his family is devastated
by the verdict.

He's told reporters outside the court that to say he was devastated would be a gross
underestimate and he has no faith whatsoever in the legal system.

MCLAUGHLIN shot ADELE at the Goulburn Base Hospital on May 29 last year after she
told him she wanted to end their 12-month relationship.

He's been remanded in custody to be sentenced in the Supreme Court in Goulburn in the
week beginning January 31 next year.
