NSW: Woman sentenced to max 6 years for soliciting dad's murder

SYDNEY, April 4 AAP - A Wollongong woman who admitted to soliciting her father's murderwas today sentenced to a maximum of six years in jail.

Belinda Van Krevel, 22, who pleaded guilty to asking her boyfriend to murder Jack VanKrevel in August 2000, smiled as Justice Graham Barr handed down her sentence in the NSWSupreme Court.

Justice Barr sentenced her to a maximum of six and a minimum of four years' imprisonment.

Keith Schreiber is serving 16 years for the murder.

Justice Barr said Schreiber entered an Albion Park home and viciously attacked Mr VanKrevel with a knife, tomahawk and fire poker as Belinda and her daughter slept in a nearbyroom.

Although both Belinda and her brother, Mark Valera, were repeatedly abused as childrenby their father, she had shown no remorse for her crime, Justice Barr said.

"I doubt she is sorry for the offence and I don't regard the plea of guilty as a signof contrition," he said.

Valera is serving a life sentence for the 1998 mutilation and murder of both allegedpaedophile and former Wollongong mayor Frank Arkell and shopkeeper David O'Hearn.
